A fine oil on canvas portrait of an aristocratic lady with her sheepdog and bay hunter by Charles Augustus Henry Lutyens.
The painting is signed 'C Lutyens' and dated ‘79 (1879)lower left
the image size is 61 x 50.5cm whilst overall the size is 69 x 82 cm. Housed in a gilt frame
The overall Condition of the painting is excellent
this Oil on canvas has not been lined and has an artists’
suppliers stamp on the reverse for Wood & Co. The paint layer
has a network of vertical age cracks commensurate with age
Charles Augustus Henry Lutyens was a member of an illustrious family with numerous connections to the British Army. His parents were General Charles Lutyens (1773-1848) and Francis Jane Fludger
Lutyens exhibited between 1861 and 1903, showing at the Royal Academy, s, British Institution, Grosvenor Gallery, Dudley Gallery, Royal Hibernian Academy, Manchester City Art Gallery, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colour and Society of British Artists which elected James Whistler its President in 1886. He was a member of the Burlington Fine Arts Society
